Why should I go to a Dental Prosthetist have my new dentures made?

A Dental Prosthetist starts out as dental technician’s, and by completing extensive clinical training they graduate to a Dental Prosthetist. The major advantage of seeing a Prosthetist is that they will make your dentures from start to finish and cut out the ‘middle man’.

What is a “Reline” and how often should I have one?

If you denture is loose or not fitting quiet right, a reline is used to change the fitting surface of your current denture. This gives you a better fit and improves functionality. It is recommended that you have you denture checked by a Dental Prosthetist approximately every 2-3 years.

How often should I consider getting new Dentures?

Over time the structures of your mouth change and to prevent any unnecessary damage to your gums it is recommended that you consider replacing your dentures every 5-7 years.

What should I do if I break my denture?

Make sure you hold on to any teeth that may break off, this may save the cost of a new tooth. Do not try repair your denture yourself, this may cause further damage and make it more difficult and costly to repair.
